Professional Development on Your Schedule: Clarendon’s Online Course Library

Family child care educators don’t get a lot of spare hours. Between the children in their care, the paperwork, and running what is in every real sense a small business, finding time to sit in a training room is genuinely hard. That is the problem Clarendon’s Learning Management System was built to solve.
Created with generous support from the Cummings Foundation, the LMS gives Clarendon system-affiliated educators access to a growing library of family child care training courses — online, on their own schedule, and in the language they are most comfortable learning in.
What the LMS offers
- Take it when you can. Courses are self-paced, so they fit around the day rather than interrupting it.
- Learn in your language. Training is available in multiple languages.
- CACFP requirements, handled. Educators in our nutrition program can complete their required annual CACFP trainings through the same system.
- A library that keeps growing. New courses are added over time, with training for parents and staff planned as well.

Beyond the online library
The LMS is one part of how we support educators, not the whole of it. Clarendon also runs live virtual training every month, and offers a range of sessions on our Professional Development Days — so there is still a place for learning together, asking questions in real time, and hearing how other educators are handling the same things.
More courses are on the way, and the library will keep expanding to cover what educators tell us they need.
