Job Overview
The Senior Accountant will prepare journal entries, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance and general ledger reconciliation. You will report to the Director of Finance, and you will be responsible for many aspects of internal reporting during the monthly and year end close. You will assist in developing and implementing accounting policies and the budget process.
Key Responsibilities
- In-depth experience with month end, quarter end closing process and workbook preparation, balance sheet account reconciliations. Prepare financial statements, monthly balance sheet, P &L and income statement analyses for management reporting in accordance with the requirements of US GAAP standards and report in a useful and understandable manner to stakeholders
- Journal entries, with minimum supervision, reconciliation of sub-ledger to general ledger account balances, maintain and reconcile fixed assets schedules
- Maintain capital lease and monthly payment schedules
- Assist with agency budget preparation and monthly budget variance analyses, including preparation and monitoring of federal Child & Adult Care Food Program budget and state subsidized childcare contract budgets
- Perform accounting for restricted and unrestricted revenue streams
- Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested
Requirements:
- BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics preferred. A CPA, CGMA or CMA also preferred
- At least 3-5 years of accounting experience, non-profit experience a must
- Adept with QB online – QB entries, journal entries, accruals, classes, software changes
- Strong proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Programs
- Strong analytical skills, accuracy and attention to detail and ability to multi-task, work independently and prioritize tasks
- Strong organizational, technology-driven solutions mindset
